Interview

Question interview 1
Hi, I'm new at presenting a proposal on our new building project.

However I hear that the average cost for labor vs material should be 50 50

Some say 70/30 other say 60/40.

What do you think?

Respond.

I think there are no meaningful, reliable averages, as each job varies too much. Until you can come up with them yourself, for the specific type of project, they aren't going to mean much.

I have read recently that new construction runs 60 percent materials and 40 percent labor, and remodeling the reverse, 40 percent materials and 60 percent labor.

I just don't see how this information can be very useful. Why does this matter to the homeowner if they're buying installed products?

IMO you should be selling your services emphasizing how smoothly your jobs run, how clean they are kept, and what you do to minimize the owners inconvenience of living through a construction project.

reply

For any type of business you can write articles or blogs, make your presence felt on business specific social networking sites. And if you are selling products online then you can create online stores on many sites where you can add all information about your products and sell them too.

Interview 3.
Hi, I'm new a construction and project management. How can I hire true quality worker and ensure my business is a success.

Answer 3.

Its all starts with cost.  If you have an entire winter, go back and figure up your true cost on each project. Once you know costs inside and out, you'll be able to determine a profit margin.  You have to remember that costs include hidden things called overhead.
